02:58 pm - Jackson's 2 Month Doctor's Appointment
Jackson is still a big boy...14 lbs 9 oz (97%) and 24 1/2 inches (90%) at two months. He has also been sleeping for 7 hours in a row the past few nights, so that has been really nice. He is such a little smiley guy. He is constantly smiling at everyone, which also includes winking sometimes.

My 6 week old just rolled over from his back to his stomach.

12:23 pm - Jackson's 1 Month Doctor's Appointment
It has been confirmed, Jackson is definitely a big boy. He weighs 11 lbs 11 oz, which puts him in the 95th percentile. He is 22 3/4 inches long, which is in the 90th percentile. His head circumference is 40 cm or 90%.
Logan started school on Tuesday. I am so glad that I sent him to summer camp because there were six kids crying and screaming when I dropped him off the first day. At least he was the only one upset his first day of camp, so that the teacher could really help him. I guided Logan through the crying kids and sent him off to go play, so he was fine.

04:30 pm - Jackson's 2nd Doctor's Appointment
Jackson now weighs 8 pounds 15 ounces, so he has gained 1 pound over the past week. I am glad that he is a good eater. I do think that I gave birth to a puppy, since he loves to growl while eating and shake his head back and forth. He is so silly.
We took Logan and Jackson to Bounce U yesterday. Logan had a lot of fun and Jackson slept through the whole thing.

03:40 pm - Jackson's First Few Days
We came home from the hospital after 36 hours and the first night Jackson insisted on sleeping on my chest, so I didn't get a lot of sleep. We hung around the house on Tuesday. Tuesday night, Jackson kept me up most of the night, and screamed whenever he wasn't nursing on Wednesday. I was worried that I had a fussy baby, but also decided that maybe it was just gas or his poop changing over to the yellow stuff. I ate oatmeal for dinner to see if that would change anything. Did it ever. We joke that we have a changeling baby because he was a totally different baby Wednesday night and Thursday. He slept for most of the day to make up for his missed day of sleep.
Mom's birthday was on Thursday and we took Jackson to his first two restaurants, Toast for breakfast and Long Horn for dinner. He slept through the meal at Toast, so we also stopped by Rite Aid on the way home. Toast is the first restaurant that we took Logan t as well. He wanted to be held at Long Horn and only fussed a bit when I was in the bathroom helping Logan.
On Friday, Ryan, Logan, Jackson, and I all went to playgroup at Holbrook Park. Ryan chased Logan around and Jackson slept in his stroller. We decided to stop by Target to pick up a bouncy chair for upstairs and then we went to lunch at Max and Erma's. Jackson slept through the entire thing. We took Jackson out front for his first water balloon fight last night, but he mainly spent the whole time staring up at the sky. Thankfully Logan didn't get either one of us wet.
This morning, Ryan and Logan let us sleep in while they went to Home Depot and Rite Aid. We told Logan that Rite Aid is Eckerds, since that is what it was and he keeps calling it Records. He likes that they have beads and foam shapes in the dollar section. Jackson had finished nursing around 11am, so we ventured to Northlake Mall and then On the Border. I nursed Jackson in the squished booth, which seemed to be fine with him. He is sleeping right now on my chest after acting like he was hungry in Logan's room, so I guess I am not getting a nap today as he just wanted to sleep on top of me.
The past three days, I have been able to put Logan to bed, so I am glad for that. I stayed with him all night on Thursday night, but then came and got Ryan to sleep with him last night around 2am when it seemed like Jackson was planning on an all night nursing session.

01:21 pm - Jackson's First Doctor's Appointment
Jackson was 7 pounds 13 ounces when we left the hospital on Monday. This morning he was 7 pounds 15 ounces, so he gained a couple of ounces which is really good. He is a great eater. A little bit too good as he is not letting me sleep.
I can't remember if I posted his head circumference, which is 35.5cm. Why they do the height in inches and the head in centimeters is beyond me.
We gave him his first pacifier last night, so that he is not using me as one. We started with the Soothies, but he kept spitting them out, so now he is trying out the Nuks that Logan loved. He seems to be able to keep this in his mouth a bit better.
Right now I am overwhelmed with trying to figure out how I am going to keep Logan entertained while nursing Jackson once all of my company leaves. Jackson is currently snuggled up in my peanut shell carrier sleeping...the little stinker.

03:41 pm - Jackson August Charles
Jackson August Charles arrived early on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 2:42am. He weighs 8 lbs 3 oz and is 21 1/2 inches long.
I had thought that we would go to the hospital on Saturday, August 1st, at some point after my nap with Logan. Ryan said that he would rather go in first thing Sunday morning, so that he could be home to sleep with Logan that night. I spent all day Saturday organizing the basement, since we had brought home everything from my store when it closed on Friday, and the guest room/nursery to make sure that everything was ready.
We went to dinner at Lupie's and came home around 7pm. I had been having contractions all week, so at first I just thought I was having another round of contractions. Logan and I went upstairs to snuggle and watch tv around 8:30 and my contractions gradually started getting more painful. By the time Ryan came upstairs at 9am to help put Logan to bed, I was unable to read books to Logan during my contractions. I tried laying down with Logan for about 15 minutes, but I was in too much pain, so I got up, told Logan to sit with Logan for a little bit, and found my mom to have her get ready to go to sleep with Logan.
I called my doctor's office to let them know I was coming in because I was having painful contractions every five minutes. I didn't realize that the conversation with their night answering service was going to be so long. She went on and on with questions about my medical history, reason for calling, etc. At one point she asked when my due date is and when I said July 30th, she asked if I had been having an issue with preterm labor. Ummm...it is August, so no. Finally I got the okay to come into the hospital and I jumped in the shower.
Ryan and I arrived at the hospital around 10:20pm and were shown to a triage room. It took 40 minutes for someone to finally come see me. We were worried that they were completely booked and I was going to have to labor in the tiny room with the uncomfortable chair for Ryan. The nurse hooked me up to a monitor and checked me. When she saw that I was almost 6cm and having contractions every 3 minutes, she left in a hurry to go find me a room. We moved to room 307, which also happened to be Lindsey's room with Jonas and Melissa's room with Camden.
I found out that I was going to have to get an entire bag of IV fluid in me before they would let me have an epidural. I felt like it was the nurse's first week as she kept forgetting things and not knowing how to fill out forms on the computer, so I wasn't totally surprised when she forgot to turn my IV on. At this point the contractions were extremely painful and I couldn't figure out how women did this before epidurals. I finally got my epidural around 12:45am and was comfortably numb by 1am. The nurse even forgot to bring in the epidural tray for the anesthesiologist, so I was glad when she was pulled into another delivery and I received new nurses. They were apparently completely packed that night with one baby being delivered after another. We didn't even have a baby nurse for Jackson, just another one of the labor nurses.
Right before 2am, I was 7cm. My new nurse, Amy, told me that with second baby's, any change could mean he was ready and that he was going to come quickly. I was thinking I still had an hour or more to go, so I was reluctant to call them when I started feeling contractions again 15 minutes later. It was a good thing I did, as I was 10cm dilated and his head was right there. She asked if I could just breathe through the next few contractions as it would make pushing easier and I said I was fine. She left the room and two contractions later, my water burst in a loud gush, scaring both Ryan and me. I called them back and we started to push. After pushing through one contraction, we were still waiting for Dr. Little, so they told me to just pretend to push on the next contraction as the doctors don't like to arrive after the baby does. She got there just in time for the third contraction and Jackson was born.

03:40 pm - 40 Week Doctor's Appointment
Still 4 cm today, which kind of bums me out. Blood pressure was elevated again at 142 over 70. Baby's heart rate seemed low to me at 125 bpm, but they weren't concerned. I got to have an ultrasound and they estimate that he weighs around 7 1/2 pounds, but that is give or take a pound. I had an ultrasound to check on him and fluid levels and his activity levels look great, so they said it was fine to wait until Monday to schedule an induction. They are going to try just breaking my water to induce. The doctor actually didn't think I would make it until Monday, but I told her that I had heard that last week. Now he has four days to figure out if he wants to come on his own before he is evicted. The doctor also said that if I have contractions every 5-7 minutes for an hour to come on in. I have that happen at least once a day, so we could technically decide to go in this weekend instead of Monday. They just don't schedule inductions for the weekend. I think August 1st sounds like a good birthday, which would be this Saturday.
My parents should be here any minute, so now we are just waiting on this little peanut. I have been having pretty regular contractions all day, so we shall see if this progresses any tonight.
Logan brought home a little cup of wildflowers that he planted at school today. He was so excited to show me.

02:58 pm - Still Pregnant
Last Wednesday I was 4 cm dilated and Dr. Sharawy said that the baby's head was right there, so he didn't expect me to make it to this week's appointment and that if I was still pregnant that we could talk about inducing. My next appointment is tomorrow morning. My blood pressure was slightly high again at 130 over 80, but they didn't seem too concerned. I hope that I am at least 6 or 7 cm dilated by tomorrow's appointment, but I don't know if that happens before you are in true labor.
I thought for sure that this baby was going to arrive yesterday, as I was up all Sunday night with contractions ever five minutes and felt bad on Sunday and yesterday. Now I feel like I am back to not expecting this baby for several weeks.
I panicked last night about what to do with Logan while I am in the hospital and the first few days at home, so I called my parents to get them to come up here this week as opposed to several weeks from now. They are trying to come up on Thursday, but aren't having luck with the rental cars, so right now they are booked for Saturday. I hope this baby holds out for them, as I would feel better about Logan having some entertainment. Hopefully we will find out by my appointment tomorrow whether they are going to be able to make it by Thursday, so that I know whether to push for an induction on Friday vs. Monday. I don't know if they schedule inductions for the weekend. Then again, this baby may have his own agenda. I really want him to arrive when he is ready, but I would also like to have the Logan logistics worked out, so it is a tough call. I wish my mom could just come up for the whole month and then I wouldn't have to worry about it.
Logan is back at summer camp this week. He keeps talking about a girl named Cassie, so that is cute. He threw a big fit Sunday night and yesterday morning about having to go to school, but then said that school is fun as I was driving him there and was just fine when I dropped him off. He did mention that the teacher said that there will be no peeing outside, so I guess he tried to do that yesterday when he had his swimsuit on. This week's theme is Nature and Our Senses and he brought home a nature parfait yesterday complete with sand, grass, and rocks.

12:48 pm - 38 Week Doctor's Appointment and Logan's 3 Year Doctor's Appointment
My 38 week appointment was a week ago. My blood pressure was much better at 114 over 60, so I don't have to go back until this Wednesday. Having contractions throughout the day, so hopefully my body is doing a ton of prep work and I can have this baby with only 35 minutes of labor like a friend of mine just did.
I signed Logan up for another preschool summer camp next week, so I am hoping this baby waits until after next week to show up. I also have to move out of my store on July 31st, so I hope that he doesn't pick that date. I think that now that we are leaning towards August as a middle name, he is going to wait until August to arrive. I just don't like not knowing when he is going to make his appearance. I would like at least one day's notice, so that I can plan out everything with Logan.
Logan's three year well check was this morning. He is 38 pounds and a little over 41 inches tall, so he is in the 95th percentile for weight and 97th for height. They actually said that he is off the charts for height and asked how tall Ryan and I are.
